I wasted an hour trying to update with a flash drive. Ford app said there was an update too, but if I try to search for update on truck it says it’s up to date.

Sync 3/3.4 is out there, but its more grey channel at this time than official. I hard loaded it on mine via info located on the F150 Forum.

Required 3 flashdrives all loaded with specific files and loaded in sequence.

Took about 2 hours to download and transfer files to my flash drives and 30 minutes to update in the truck.

I got that same notice on the iPhone the other day. Then soon after the FordPass app froze at the splash screen upon startup.
I removed and reinstalled but same result. A short time later it was back to normal. Never did look into the SYNC update. After getting the random radio at startup issue after I did an update on my previous truck (a 2017) I'm leery of SYNC updates. Generally there isn't any super duper tangible result from them anyway. If it gave me some sort of new options or appearance changes, maybe I'd do it again.
I also am leery of the Ford owner site's reliability. I just signed in there and a big notification says. "You're up to date. You don't have any recalls or action required right now". Funny, Recall 19S52 and FSA 19B27 are currently active according to the FordPass app.
Also FordPass Message Center says that there's a SYNC 3 update dated January 23. But the owner website says "you do not have a download available at this time".
It's always been a poorly maintained site in my opinion. FWIW I just pitched a little bitch to them on Facebook.

Sync Update

I received the same Ford Pass Sync. update for 3.3,
I downloaded it to my laptop, open it, dragged the files to a formatted flash drive, Sat in the driveway and it was installed and updated in about 20 min.
No issues .

Rich,
Did this update give you the maps v. 1.18? Mine is currently at v.1.17, but I’m not keen on the “bootleg” update to Sync 3.4 to get it.

I don't use the app but logged into owner.ford.com and appears there is an update available. I haven't tried an OTA update yet.

I didn't pay attention to any new map ver., I don't have a nav. unit. Don't care for it. Wont pay for it. (Updated maps)
I use Apple car play and use Google maps or Waze, always updated and ready to go.

Does anyone know where to find release notes on updates? Would be nice to know what has changed.

Also reading this is for 2018 and older vehicles. 2019s have a newer version?

No idea what changed. But I just checked my 2019 and it's SYNC version 3.0, build 18093. This is what came with the truck I bought 9/12/19.

Some release notes would be nice that go into more detail than "bug fixes". I'd be fine with some high level bullet points.

This is all I found on the site, which is useless:

EDIT Also note that the update required USB to be in exFAT format - this isn't the standard FAT32 or NTFS so be sure to format your USB before moving the files over.

I did the same thing - slow careful process but very happy with the results on my 2019 F-450. Also, I did not get the Notification today - wonder if it's because they know, through FordPass App, that our trucks already have 3.4?
