That's what it sounds like to me, based on many reports and video comments of the great steering feeling. Furthermore, that's the point I'm trying to get at, i.e., has the new steering improved to the point that folks are pleased enough with it that the 1000 bucks for adaptive isn't as appealing?
I guess I see them as 2 completely different things, smooth/easy steering possibly with one, and less turns of the wheel with the other. If I'm understanding right, you are wondering if the steering is now so effortless, that it doesn't matter how many turns of the steering wheel it takes. I'm sure eventually someone will have driven one with Adaptive but not pro trailer, and vice versa.
I'm interested to hear more about how the new electronic bit actually works. I know its not what they call EPAS, and I haven't read any marketing info on it.

Yes, pretty much this ^^^^^^....I realize they are 2 different things but the driver experience due to each could overlap.
Took a 2020 out for a test drive yesterday to see what all the hype was about. The electro hydraulic steering was probably the top new feature I was impressed with. The steering “feel” was great.
Bingo! I test drove a stripped down F350 Lariat 7.3 with none of the towing options and the steering was very light compared to my 2017 F350.
Did the truck have pro trailer back up and/or adaptive steering?
Had both options as it was a loaded out Platinum and both options were standard. I’ve driven trucks with Adaptive Steering and it still felt lighter. Not sure if the electric function actually assists or not the entire time, but whatever they did, it felt good.
I DO have the Pro-Trailer backup option (electric over hydraulic steering (with aluminum bracket in picture above).
I DON'T have adaptive steering.
I DON'T have any assistance from it under normal driving conditions at any speed. ZERO difference at all.
2020 F250 XLT 4WD CCSB Tremor
If it doesn't do anything during normal driving, then this "better" feeling steering that people are having is from some other source. Maybe new steering pump or steering box?
In the owners manual under Driving Aids - Steering - Electronic Torque Overlay Steering (If Equipped):
The electronic torque overlay steering system adds supplemental steering assist to the hydraulic gear when needed, depending on vehicle conditions such as vehicle speed, steering wheel angle, and steering wheel torque. (…) The electronic torque overlay enables features such as pro trailer backup assist and lane departure warning.
So the electronic torque overlay steering enables lane departure warning? Is it doing the vibration or something? I think non-fleet XL models are the only trucks which don't have lane departure. Just curious because I didn't order either adaptive steering or pro trailer backup assist, so getting mixed input as to whether or not I'll have the electronic overlay.
Just bought a 2020 F350 SRW CC LWB with the 6.7 PSD and pro trailer backup assist. Not only does it pull harder than my 17' 6.7 did, the steering is great. It is light but has very good feel. Huge improvement in my opinion, as is most of the features in this truck.
