I just received my 2020 F350 with the 7.3 gasser. I will be using it to haul my slide in truck camper. I got the long bed because I wanted to be able to haul more "stuff", however I will need to remove the tailgate to be able to fit the truck camper in the bed.
Are there any written instructions on how to remove the tailgate? I'm especially concerned on how to unplug the wiring harness that goes into it for the cameras and such. I would greatly appreciate any advice/help.
Check this video out - it's for installing a tailgate dampener, but it does a real good job showing you how the tailgate comes off. It's actually quite easy to get off. I only had two electrical connectors - not three like the manual (2018 XLT). The hardest part was those electrical connectors - mine were a b!tch to get apart. It's like the plastic connectors were seized together. Push the clip, and pull/wiggle really hard and it'll come apart.
The tailgate isn't heavy - but I'd grab your wife/kid/anyone to help. You're much less likely to ding and scratch it with two people.
I have no idea what a tailgate removal kit is, but I see the reference to it in the above manual screenshot. You don't need it. All you need is a blanket to put the tailgate onto and your fingers.
According to the manual, the kit includes caps for the connections once you disconnect them. I suppose if you don't cover them and get debris inside the connection, the system may fail to operate when you plug it back in. I don't see having a time when I pull my tailgate but I will need to track these parts down and have them on-hand just in case.

Right. It's just a medium-size plastic bag containing the dust cap(s); our truck's bag contained three, but we only need two of 'em.

OP and others, I apologize for hijacking the thread. I want to add the tail gate dampner and it looks like I have to remove the tail light to access a bolt. My truck has BLIS and if I remove the tail light, is it true that I need to take my truck to the dealer for recalibration of the BLIS system? Dealer has said so and that sounds like a bunch of BS based on other youtube videos. Can someone let me know, please? Thanks

Sounds like nonsense to me, shouldn't have to do any recalibration.
