I don't have the rate for the springs.
Usually, I do the shocks to the point the rubber bushings are squished enough against the large washer and leave it at that.
You'll want to be super careful with the lower front shock lugs that are part of the radius arms---they're too easily sheered off necessitating replacing the entire radius arm or using one of the repair kits designed for that mishap. Removing those even carefully sometimes results in their breakage so don't be too surprised if that happens---its not "fatal", just a PITA to repair.
I also use a silicone grease on the rubber shock mounts---it helps preserve them over the longer term.
I’m New here (too), with a just-acquired ‘03 E250. Have had F150s, and always managed to find downloadable FSMs (Factory Service Manuals). I’m a HUGE advocate of Forums, too !
On vehicle’s that I couldn’t source (Free) FSMs, I more-often-than-Not found “Stickies” on a given Forum that was a database of sorts for things like Torque Specs, part numbers, CROSS-REFERENCE, etc. I have No Doubt that maintaining such a database is labor-intensive, and WAY Beyond my computer skills.
just got the van YESTERDAY, and spending a lazy Saturday combing through Threads here to soak up info. Since today is my first day “of school” here, if there’s IS such a Resource here, I would Love to know .... in case my Searching hasn’t yielded it (by then).
I’m an ‘Obsessive Tinkerer’, and seldom if ever leave my vehicles totally stock. Drives my brother, who has been an elite mechanic for 40yrs NUTS; but hey, (personalizing) my cars is how I derive satisfaction, and I never hack things together ... I have an aerospace background.
Some ideas on my Search horizon:
Upgrading E250 Brakes, Suspension, etc with E350, 450, or other model parts. *prefer to stay OE
Cosmetic “improvements” where possible (e.g. side mirrors, adding glovebox, lighting, seating, etc.)
POSSIBLY swapping Clutch fan for e-fan (HUGE Taurus/Lincoln Mk VIII advocate for off-roading)
Installing beefy headlight relay harness, and Big 3 Cable upgrade
Instead of piling on with completely different concerns or questions start your own independent thread. Your contribution here tends to either get lost or ignored as its not pertinent to the OP.
