I just replaced my steering box with a Redhead box and just want a sanity check. I had read over in the newer Super Duty forum that the Pittman arm nut and washer were a one-time use deal. I re-used my nut and washer, torqued it to 220 lbs and figured I'm all good. Should I have replaced the nut and washer, or should I just not worry about it?
By the way I took it on a test drive and the new box is a huge improvement.
Was your truck the F250 with IFS? Why did you decide to Get a new box? My 96 F250 has about 2-3” left to right Freeplay in the steering wheel. I’d really like to get it tightened back up
Helped a friend this past summer remove his pitman arm for an aftermarket one for his truck because he lifted it. The old one was ground out but the nut and washer didn't appear to be damaged in anyway. The nut properly threaded multiple times with no resistance. I'd say you'll be fine.
