How to attach nut to steering box?

Steering box is mounted. Got the pitman arm back onto the steering gear. How the hell do I get that nut back onto the end of the gear to get the pitman arm secured?? An hour I spent trying every way...it doesn’t even try to work. Can I replace that nut and washer?

Thread Files are a good idea, for not much money. if one plays/works with threads they can make a issue much shorter time wise.

Yes, Amazon has Nicholson thread files.
Amazon Amazon

This assumes that the threads on your nut are not "bunged up".
