As my son and I work on our restoration mod, we are finding that we are removing parts that we will have no use for. We sold a few linkages to a fellow who realized we were gonna be removing and having no use for them and this really benefitted my son’s budget.
So, here’s my question:
Is it permissible to post up items here in this forum that we are considering parting with to get a feel for price or does that need to be done in marketplace? I’m looking for guys to chime in on a fair price for these items as I have no idea what things are worth.
Can’t speak to the official policy, but just for myself.
It is one thing to mention you’ve a part that someone needs/is having difficulty locating, for a project. It’s another thing entirely to clog up a forum with want ads: that’s precisely what the market place is designed for, freeing up the forum for questions about our trucks.
I would not appreciate having to wade through an army of ads in the Forum. I check in the Marketplace about once a week.
Asking about value of parts is seen as OK by the Moderators but if the thread turns into a For Sale thread then they will remove it.
This was just done over in the 80-86 truck area.
Some one had a transmission and wanted to know what the value was. He posted a price before anyone gave a price.
Some one gave what he had seen that trans go for.
The seller said thanks and I reached out to seller thru PM, only place selling price should be talked about, not out in the open forum thread.
We worked out a price for trans & other parts and the deal was done other than the 600 mile 1 way trip to get them.
So asking value is fine but anyone looking to maybe buy said part should do this over PM.
