Anyone know what the two areas with holes on the underside of my 62 Flareside hood are for? The middle is for the latch assy but I can't figure out what the raised areas with the holes to the left and right of the latch assembly are for. Any help appreciated. The pictures are of the underside, front of the hood taken from the rear of the hood. As you can tell, the hood is upside down so I can paint the underside.
Were there any reinforcing rods used on these trucks? Maybe that was where they were mounted?
If that had been the rear I'd say that's a perfect design for a hinge! But since it's near the latch, and is too robust for some sort of emblem on the outer surface, my only thought is a support brace.
