My '06 has the chrome mirror covers with amber lenses for turn signals. One side is burnt out. Aftermarket replacements from the likes of Anzo ($70 a pair) are available but all have terrible reviews. Seems that Ford only offers the complete cover for $300-$400 each. Has anyone been able to replace the bulbs?
There is a small locking lever behind the lower corner of the mirror glass, you can reach in with a small screwdriver and press it while pulling out on the lense and it should pop right out so you can get to the bulbs.
I think the bulb is officially a 2825 but can tell you it's a plain-jane 194 wedge base bulb. There are two on each side, one for the marker, one for the turn signal.
Tilt each large mirror (not the fish eye) up and in towards the truck as far as they will go. Look in the mirror housing at the lower outside corner that has now been exposed by moving the mirror; you'll see a white plastic tab in there which is on the other side of the marker housing. Use a long skinny flat blade screwdriver to push that white tab forward and the marker light will come right out. Change the bulbs and snap it back in, easy peasy.
I replaced mine with some LED 194 equivalent bulbs and have been very happy.
