In the middle of a resto on my pickup. Bed has a lot of rust. Found a super clean and straight replacement and it has the bedside toolbox on it. Wondering if anyone could get me some dimensions on it. Height, width, depth. And maybe a photo of the inside? Driving home and realizing my exhaust might be in the way and can’t go back to pick it up for a couple weeks. Wanted to start figuring out if and what I might need to modify. Thanks.
rarely does anyone have exhaust outside the frame in the location so it shouldn't be an issue. if you do you're going to have to move it inside the frame or drop it down below the bottom of the bed because that's where the box floor is. or, you could leave the liner out and it's just like your old bed.
Have fender well exit headers and 3” exhaust going through there. It’s pretty tight to the frame. Looks like there might be enough room. Reason for looking for some dimensions.
Yes box is plastic and yes I seem to remember you do not have much room behind it to the frame. I am looking for some dimensions also, I know I took some and they are out in the shop. Here is a good day at the JY with a fellow FTE member when we cut one for his truck.
Nice score! A good day indeed.
I've been trying to nab a set of the factory (or maybe dealer?) installed t-type tie downs for the bed and tailgate. Always liked the look, but every time I find a set I can't get the screws out because the nutserts just spin in place.
Been a long time since I've even seen any though, so slim pickin's makes it even harder.
Never needed the toolbox though, because the four must-haves or deal-breakers when I bought my '79 were:
1. Must be an F350 so no cats
2. Must have dual tanks.
3. Must have A/C.
4. Must have tool box!
Well if you ditch the plastic box in favour of a metal one, to not re-locate your exhaust, then you have just created an oven space for long road trips to do a roast and vegetables in
