Step bumper replacement
His insurance is gonna cover it. Confused old man. His excuse was he was looking forward. Keep in mind he back into me.
Wheres the best place to get a factory style step bumper? Preferably chrome and made in America.
Also tossing the idea of just building my own like these
I don’t want any shackles or lights though. I could make one like these at work pretty cheaply. I don’t know if I even want to do that for fear of a overly stout bumper damaging the frame more in an accident.
What do you guys think? Who sells the best factory style rear step bumpers?
Truck is a 79 f250 crew.

) I think I would stick with a stock style with or without the vinyl top. but don't discount the lights I put a set of LED backup lights in GOOD LORD they are amazing!
Both of the home built bumpers there are on dodges. Neither one of them are aluminum. I’d definitely mount it better than the white one, tighter like the green one.
Ive worked in a body shop before, I see no way to straighten mine. The pic I posted might not do it justice, but it’s 3-4 inches high and a good 6 inches back. Stretched out one of the arms holding the left side to the frame and is curved/bowed all the way to the license plate. Right side has been pushed up again the back of the bed. So the whole left side is curved back, and the right side it bent forward.
I just use my hitch and safety chain shackles to pull with. I’d have to really reinforce the mounting areas of the bumper to get more strength out of it than my hitch. I’m planning on building a headache rack for her, and I’ll add reverse/working lights in it. Since my truck is 2wd I think lights and shackles on the bumper itself might be a little to 4wd. All though I’m sure Id find a use for them.
Lmc’s pictures look a lot like the Westin’s I’ve found that no one seems to like that much. Autozone carries them on their website. I’m gonna try to order one there and check it out first. If I conclude that the LMC variant is the same manufacturer.
edited to add: Does a crew cab not require a special bumper? I thought crews had a different frame width than the “normal” single cabs. But all the listing just say 1973-1979 f150-f350. Dennis Carpenter says 1967-1996 ford truck. So would any 67-96 step bumper work?
