such a dipstick

Hey all! Started workin on my ole beasty again and has been a long time since I have had time to do so. First off its 82 f100 rwd that I have dropped a 302 in. I have forgot about the oil dipstick bein broke and only have the handle that covers the tube. Have no idea what I have done with the rest of it. The donor engine came out of an 83 or 84 e100 or e150 van been so long can't recall the exact details but figure should be all close to same. I'm havin trouble finding a new oil dipstick. Can anyone help with a list of cross reference numbers or even years and other engines that is compatible? BTW I need one that goes into a rear sump pan. Thanks for any help!

Is the dipstick provision in the oil pan or the block? This one should fit the pan https://www.cjponyparts.com/oil-dips...waAveWEALw_wcB and the stick for it is here https://www.cjponyparts.com/scott-dr...8-1973/p/DSO4/

Still looking, found some threads on here using google, apparently its the same as a 351w, 80's models, bronco, vans, police interceptors. Most everything it looks like.

If your tube is ok, you can take any dipstick that will fit, change the oil and filter but leave one quart out. Start it up and run it for a few minutes and then turn it off and let it sit for awhile, and then pull the dipstick, wipe it off and then do it again without wiping it off, and then mark that spot by taking a hacksaw and carefully make a line there. That will be your "add" mark.

Then add the final quart, and then after the same routine, make another mark, that will be your "full" mark.

Forgot to mention, the market place has a lot of trucks being parted out right now, may be able to find one for cheap. This guy in particular may be able to help https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/market/1561866

I came across a few for the 351w. I was thinkin should be the same as 302 since they do share same block. Thanks

I was readin a thread about that and gave me the idea of usin a strand of bailin wire to set up and check the level til I can find a suitable replacement. The tube is good to keep using. Thanks
