Took my truck in for noisy (howl) operation in 4wd. I figured front dif or a driveshaft bearing. I have hear others mention a howl in 4wd but never read what was found or if they just left it and didn't bother with it. Dealer actually agree's with me that something is wrong except he thinks that the noise is coming from the transfer case. I am sure this was an issue from new as the truck only has 6000kms on it and only does it when over 60 km/hr in 4wd. People lucky enough to live outside the snow belt my never notice. Dealer said just drive it for now and wait till it get's worse but I disagreed as I am waiting to add a leveling kit and don't need a future warranty denied because I modified it. Anyways I'm leaving it for a few days for them to look deeper into it and will post what is found.
I am having the same issue it seems.1600 Kms. Live in Ontario where it has been very cold. Seems to whine or growl on acceleration and deacceleration. No noise when coasting. Almost sounds like an exhaust leak if I had to describe the sound.
Curious to hear what they find.
Well if anyone else figures this out please let me know. Dealer confirms he hears it but can not replicate on the lift. I replied that of course becasue it needs to have a load on the drivetrain. He recommends I drive it and see if it get's worse. Lot's of warrranty left. The noise is really not loud, and if I had noiser tires I'm sure it would not be heard and if this was a used truck I would have called it normal wear. Anyways I explained it is going to be leveled shortly and that I wanted it documented before I touched anything. So until something changes or someone else get's a diagnosis I guess we wait.
