I've been using diluted peppermint oil in water as a repellent. Two teaspoons oil in one cup of water, mixed in a spray bottle. I occasionally spray areas where I see evidence of rodents. I've used under the hood of my seasonal-use vehicles, also in my well-house and RV. Doesn't leave any residue, lasts about a month+, and won't harm the pets. I don't use any poisons, as I don't want another animal to eat a poisoned rodent. I've tried the "Bucket Trap" concept, but haven't had great success.

I use a mix of peppermint oil and a home made oil if ghost pepper oil. I boil chopped ghost peppers about 5-6 in a cup of vegetable oil. Cool then mix one teaspoon of each in 1/2 gallon of water with 1 teaspoon of liquid soap. Then spray and let dry before I drive the truck.

Happy Holidays

Judging by the replies I'd think Marvel Mystery oil would work pretty well as well. JK. Just showed my age (but I like the stuff for other purposes
In the last year I've used Grandpa Gus' repellant packs against mice, and thus far no problems. But I also have two variably motivated barn cats so who knows.

Never found anything that really worked in the last 20 years for my RV. Sometimes nothing works and sometimes something works. My thought is that nothing works for rodents but it looks like it works when you put it there and they don't happen to visit your RV.

They are attracted to the corn meal and the baking soda makes them feel bloated so they go lay down to sleep it off but it kills them cause they can't fart or burp.

I've been using these on truck, RV and riding lawnmower for about the last year. Was spurred to do it due to signs of rodents in the wiring area of the zero turn. Nothing since started using them.

While I was in the Air Force, crew chiefs all over the world swore by using Irish Spring soap in cargo bays of various aircraft. I tried it in the engine bay of my Massey Ferguson tractor and riding lawn mowers and it works great! I got the same great results in my shop building when I discovered a rat's nest. I Carve a bar into 5 or 6 pieces, distribute them around the shop or in a vehicle, and the vermin just leave. They can't stand the perfume smell. BONUS: Makes the shop smell nice!

There has been questions about as to whether they are just ineffective or might even do the reverse.

The Irish Spring soap myth is an oldie now. There are videos showing mice eating Irish Spring, so if anything it actually attracts them. I'm not so sure about using any bait that attracts them and then kills them if they crawl up and die in your RV .

The Tomcat bait is one that they take back to the nest. It doesn't kill them right away. So they shouldn't be croaking in the trailer, unless they have decided to nest in there. I put my Tomcat bait station outside the trailer. Inside the trailer I use the snap traps to kill them right then and there, should they make it that far. I've caught only one in the snap traps. I use the Irish Spring soap as well as peppermint oil as a way to keep them out.

That has not been my experience. Hope it is no one else's either.

I never had a problem with the truck or RV, and still have not.

On the riding lawn mower, prior to the installation of the rodent repeller, they were making a home under the seat (where most of the wiring is). Not a sign of them since then.
