I was along the river today doing some photography and got a good look at the water problem here in ND. The fight over who controls the Missouri River is ongoing and there seems to be no good ending in sight. I wish these people would get their heads straight and think about the environment and such. (I don't mean to be sounding like a tree hugger or anything with this thread and my littering one, I'm just frustrated with the whole thing). Boat ramps along the Missouri are completely exposed and it is effecting local businesses that rely on the river as a site to bring in business. If the drought doesn't end in the next year or two we're gonna be in some trouble.
Here's a couple examples:
The water is supposed to be up to the truck:
That sand is supposed to be submerged:
Anyone else here effected by the low water on the Missouri River (or any river for that fact)? Lake levels around the state are hurting, too. Does it effect anyone's water recreation, hunting, etc.?
my dad lives along the rock river here in illinois and the water is so low that they cant move the boats to get them out for winter. theres only a foot or 2 of water in some spots. out on the mississippi river where my dads other boat is, the water isnt bad, but there is a low spot leaving the marina where the boat is stored.
The last four years that I lived in Montana, technically I still do, so yes I know what thats like. Having no water sucks. We are going to get screwed if they don't start holding the water back at Garrison, Fort Peck, and Yellowtail. I know the fisheries are important but you can choose if you want to fish or if you want crops. I choose crops.
