I was told that I had a 04-07 f150 trition 5.4L, we figured that much out with the serpentine belt diagram, is there anyway that you could tell me hpw to fine the engines serial number so that I can try to figure out what size motor I got in this thing. And figure out how to get it running again.

Any '04 to '07 model year 5.4L equipped F-150 is a 3-valve engine, and will not be compatible with your 2001 Expedition. I don't quite understand your last question. Are you asking for the physical location on the engine block itself for the engine serial number, or are you asking how to identify the engine that your truck is equipped with, when you just stated in your initial post that you have a 2001 Expedition equipped with the 5.4L V8?

Yes I understand that is what I stated, I bought this vehicle for a so called car lot. The body is a 01 we was told that the engine was out of a 05-07 f150 but it was still a triton v8 engine 5.4L. And yes I wanted to know where to look to get the engines serial number where I can look for it and try to figure out why type and year the motor is in my car. And plus, can you tell me the symptoms of how the car will act while running and driving with this motor in it if its the wrong motor.

You need to check the wiring harness, and you need to plug in a code reader to get some more info regarding what's going on here.

It appears you just bought it? How long did it run after you bought it, and was there an "event" that led to it not running?

It ran up until right before Christmas
we never drove it because of this:
bucking, jerking, misfiring the codes that it threw was misfiring and running lean on bank 1 also was throwing a code for the TCC (transmission clutch converter) I also found a couple wires that were burnt that was sitting on the exhaust that ran to the neutral safety switch, i pulled all the wires and checked them and tapped them wires up (4R100 transmission) that is the original transmission that came in the 01 expedition eddie Bauer 4x4, now i was told that it had between a 05-07 f150 2 wheel drive (also noticed the oils drain plug is blocked by part of the frame, so can't change oil buy the plug)

OK it looks like you may have a botched engine swap. The lean codes, and the TCC, did your run those down?

Did it have a CEL when you bought it?

The 5.4 forum might be a better place to try to diagnose your issues.

If your valve covers are aluminum (Magnesium) you indeed have a 3v 5.4 engine from an 04-10 truck. But if its a black plastic it could be a 4.6 or a 5.4 ranging from 97-10 in the E series vans. Take a picture of your engine and posted to see what you have.

Then it's definitely a 4.6/5.4 two valve engine.
