Does anyone know why Ford has a way to temporarily disable the auto start/stop both via a button and using the settings in the dash? Initially, I figured that the button was just for your current trip, which it is, but the settings in display would disable it until turned back on...but that is not the case. No matter which way you disable it, as soon as you shut your vehicle off and restart it, you have to disable it again. It makes no sense.
I have this on my 150, maybe email them, or call, and see if they have anything in the works for the Ranger. https://www.cjponyparts.com/autostop...-2019/p/AE001/
There is another company out there that has a device that plugs into your OBDII port.
There are other ways known on the 150 to defeat this thing, maybe they'd work on the Ranger as well, just do a search.
I assume that the deal was in order for the EPA to allow them to use ESS during certification, Ford had to prove that the feature would be incorporated into the standard driving mode, i.e. it's in operation every time you start the vehicle.
We're lucky we have buttons, for now, that allow it to be shut off.
I have read that the auto start/stop does not work when a trailer is hooked up. Some people cut the wires off of a 4 prong trailer plug and then plug the dummy plug into the truck.

I tryed the trailer plug, and the screen starts asking questions about trailer, and the lane control is disabled.
