A4LD qestion

Ok, here's what happened. My parents and I took a vacation in the mountains, and put my dad's explorer through the paces for a few days. Then on the 6 or 7 hour trip home, the tranny decided to dump all of it's fluid on the highway. It came out where the bellhousing mates to the motor. So I figured it was the fwd pump seal. Well, I pulled the tranny the other day, and everything seems to be fine. I'm stumped. I replaced the seal, and cleaned the valve body real well. I have it all back together now, and ready to put it back in the truck. I was just wondering if you guys could give me an idea of what happened. If there is something else I should check, I'd rather find out before I put the tranny back where it belongs.

Sure it didn't overheat and blow it out of the overflow?

No, I'm not sure. It sounds very possible considering the driving. Where does the overflow empty out at though? I wish I knew more about trannies. I've only had my dickskinners in a few of them.

I'm not sure exactly, it's usually near the front of the case and has a small tube coming out.
