Size? Is that what you're asking?

Just a question...are you removing them? Oh and there are three total...

If you do remove them make sure you replace them with strong bolts.

Oh...and I cannot remember the size. I do remember that it is easier to remove them with the bumper off.

I believe the two bolts to which you refer (mounted directly beside the tow hooks) are bumper mounting bolts. I had to remove them for installing a bumper guard ... and also added a couple more 1/2" bolts on the other side of each tow hook.

wondering what there purpose is? they have started to rattle and seem to serve no purpose but make noise. guess i could put nuts on them to keep them quiet.

Those two bolts attach to a couple nuts behind the bumper, and the two nuts are attached together via sheet metal stamping. By having the nuts connected to each other, you don't need to keep a wrench on them when turning the bolts ... usually.

Get behind there and spray some WD40 & let it soak in awhile. If push comes to shove, fire up the torch & put some heat to them .... being careful NOT to heat anything that does not resist a hot flame too well.
