I am in the market for a new rad on my 08 F-350. Is it worth picking up an all aluminum mishimoto style or find a solid OEM? When I surf around it seems like the mishimotos still leak? Just don’t want to spend the extra sheckles for nothing. Thanks guys.
I went with the Mishimoto radiator and support and haven't had any more problems in 2 years. Lifetime warranty. Also would suggest replacing cab bushings if they are bad.
You need to lock the frame rails together. You need to either do a front hitch metal plate behind the bumper. The frame rails twisting is what pops the seams on the radiator.
How is this playing out??? I put a new rad in twoish years ago. Prime Auto. Great fit/finish, Thinkin it was 250 free shipping/ All alum.
Denny
its not playing yet! Unfortunately I have procrastinated and hummed and hawed about this. But, you say “prime auto”? Can you send me a link? I’m in Canada so shipping may be an issue. Cheers.
I bought my radiator the same place as Denny. The only issue I had was the packaging is poor. When I got mine in the mail the box had a bunch of holes. There packaging could use a little improvement. So the first one I had leaked. So they replaced without an issues but I did have to do the radiator twice which was a bummer, but it was very good on price. I can’t find the place online either. Not sure if they changed names or what.
I went out in the garage last night and pulled the info:
It was Prime-Auto and after trying to research it.............
They are either no longer offering it or have shuttered they're doors.
As Seth said, they're packaging was very frail. My first shipment looked like it had a fight with Steven Segal. It's in the rafters and is useable but the upper neck was literally sanded down in freight.
I shoved it up in storage for just in case purposes. Totally useable but not doing this twice. I called, took photos and they shipped another no questions asked. That came in beat up but not terrible, so I installed it. Great luck so far.
Still trying to get you where you need to be, but so far I'm just at a loss.
When you/if you get to doing the job, I can give you some great pointers. It looks alot worse than it is.
I did a write up on it I think. I quickly looked and didn’t find anything. I will look again. Another thing to think about is if your doing the radiator the front end will be wide open. Depending on mileage it will be a super easy time to do thermostats, water pump(check for cavitation), both belt tension era and both belts, and new hoses. Not required but everything will be open. I think it ran me about $700 to do everything. That’s including the radiator.
Thank you Denny and Seth. Geez Seth that write up was epic. Well done.
I want to do rad, water pump, hoses, thermostats,
and call it there I think. Will have a look at tensioner when I am in there. I’m no expert at this stuff but between you guys and YouTube I figure I can pull it off. Soooo my big issue is purchasing a damn rad. Here in Canada I can’t find an all aluminum for under $1200! Any other options out there you guys can think of? Would you consider the cheaper side plastic tanks? Thanks again guys this is pure gold.
