When you say lift pump are you referring to the mechanical fuel pump? Or is there another fuel pump that I'm unaware of? No rust on the truck at all, she's super clean. And both tanks are full so I doubt the pickup is the problem.
Read Post #6 again... it's the mechanical pump on the Block just above the oil pan on the RH side just behind the Timing Cover.
Most time on the 93 IF the Filter is restricted or the Lift Pump is failing it will turn on the Fuel Filter Light there is a Vacuum sensor on the Filter head that senses this condition.
Correct IF the tanks are full you can forget the shower heads being the issue .. this is why I asked how much fuel it had in Post # 2

One of the common problems,is the plastic screen eventually disintegrate over the years and crumble and fall apart. That's s different symptom than your having though,so.I just didn't read all the way down to see all your symptoms so don't pay much attention to that lol.
Well,it's more than likely he doesn't have one that's all. That why we offer the cheat methods too.Mostly millennials own these IDI trucks now. They be like, what's a fuel pressure gauge? Does it have a usb or mini usb port? haha
Ya I get it
Just seems like a lot more work to disconnect things and stick Hoses in buckets and such...
He could probably Spray that IP with some water in a spray bottle and find out if it tightens things up
Seems like it is warmed up when the problem happens.
Replaced the lift pump, got the air out of the fuel lines and now the smooth idle is a thing of the past. She would stall out after idling for more than a minute.
why is the smooth Idle now a thing of the past ???
"Replaced the lift pump, got the air out of the fuel lines and now the smooth idle is a thing of the past." DO you mean that it Fixed the issue or made it worse ????
Sorry about the vague post y'all, yes it's not fixed. It seems to be even worse now. She stumbles all over the place at an idle. What are the symptoms of a failings fuel tank selector valve?
Which of the diagnostics tests have you tried so far,and what are the results of them?
I replaced the short section of hose between the hard line and the fuel into the fuel pump. I see that there is air getting into the system somewhere between the fuel tanks and the fuel pump.

Also, I just noticed that when I idle up there is a lot more air intrusion if that helps at all.
Looking over all the fuel lines, which are all rust free, and I'm having a hard time finding where the air intrusion could be. Does anyone have any helpful tips to track it down? All I know is it's before the fuel pump.
Got some old 3/8"s air hose? You can run a piece from the tank to the mechanical pump on the supply side, if that fixes it then you know it's somewhere in those nylon lines or fuel selector valve
Hope you got it straightened out, I had a similar issue with my truck shortly after I got it... after replacing a few unnecessary items, I found out the pickup lines in the tank had broken off and would not pick up fuel when below 1/4 tank! still running like that 5yrs. later, just switch tanks at a 1/4....one day I'll pull the bed and change 'em (but not today
When it dies does it kinda surge up in rpms and then fall on it's face?
What causes this to happen? I just had this experience and now it won't start. It did it the last time I drove the truck but it didn't die, it surged a couple times and then smoothed out. This time it started, turned over a few times, surged, died and won't start.
