need help on correct gas cap
Can someone tell me if my 2004 Escape with the 3.0 uses a vented or an unvented gas cap? I get confusing information. Some say that there was a change midyear from a vented to a nonvented type. Others say it depends on whether I have an "onboard emissions recovery system" or not. Can anybody help? My old cap disintegrated. Thanks.

What is the manufacturing date (see VECI label on driver's door)?

RockAuto is showing 3-1-04 as before and after date.

The build date is 11/03, so I will go with the RockAuto date that TexGuy provided. Thanks for your quick replies.
