Hello all. I have a problem and hope someone can advise. I have a 2001 F150 RWD. I replaced all four disk brake pads. After I did this I bled all the fluid and put in new fluid (dot 3). This is the second time I have replaced the pads since new. Truck has 122,000 miles. Took truck for a test drive and after about 10 miles the drivers side front brake was locking up to the point where it bogged me down. Lucky I made it home. So I replaced both front calipers and hoses. That seemed to solve the problem until today. Now the drivers side rear brake is doing the same. I haven't replaced the back calipers yet as I would like your advise. Would the master cylinder cause this?
Well, no...…. I would place my swag on 1) brake lines coming apart internally or 2) issue with the brake calipers. A couple of years ago I did a complete system rebuild on my wifes car (1997 Cougar Sport- 4 wheel disc)….as I was just about to purchase the rebuild kits (caliper) the parts guy (good guy, independent shop) convenience my to buy remans from Centric...….ISO, etc, etc. I will give Centric credit for making things right but NEVER again will I ever buy a reman caliper...… all 4 leaked....2 I could fix easy enough with using real copper crush washers (vs the al coated ones provided) the other 2...… dissassembled the one myself and fixed it...the 4th one..... the casting had not been checked and sent out bad...and yes, these were all Motorcraft castings...…. also the hardware might be hanging things up....including the slides....clean those well with a power wire brush and even a file if necessary
