I had an Extang soft tonneau on my Chevy 1500, and an ARE LSII on my F150. Both of them kept the water out for years. I paid $185 for the Extang and the ARE came with the F150; I paid almost $900 for the BAKFlip G2 and it may as well be made of mesh.
Congrats. I've always preferred a lower profile cover than the Extang and haven't had issues with the MX4. Not sure what I'll eventually end up getting once the truck gets here. May consider a retractable.
I just research all 3 and the Extand Encore is the one that looks like it will work for my application. I have a in bed Transflow 50 gallon fuel tank/tool box combo up against the cab. It sits below the bed rails and it appears you can have a 5th wheel hitch and the front and back sec up at the same time to allow acces to the box/fuel tank inlet. If has one please let me know if I'm correct with my assumption?
Hey Bronco. Send multiple pics. I had the Extang soft covers in the past and they lasted the entire time I had the trucks. The last one was on my GMC which I had for 12 years. I did replace the fabric once though as it started ripping around the snaps. Thats why Im looking at hard trifold covers now. That and ease of use. The fabric would get brittle and stiff in the winter. If I needed to open it in the cold I had to leave it open until I could put the truck inside for a while in the heat.
I sort of prefer the lower profile of some of the others but The extang looks right as it is.
My only complaint on the MX4 on my shortbed is it makes the bed camera almost unusable. They should modify it some but that might not be possible in 3 sections.
The MX4 is 4 panels on the short bed. That's one of the reasons why I chose it over some other folding covers. I haven't tried, but it doesn't look like it interferes with the CHMSL cam.

I may need to fold it up all the way before backing up to my gooseneck.
