Hey guys! I have a f350 1994 5.8l 5 speed. She is backfiring through the exhaust, and using a ton of gas. I have changed the MAP sensor, fuel pressure regulator, throttle positioning sensor, air idle control valve, o2 sensor, injectors, new gaskets in the upper intake. Checked for vacuum leaks. Im at a loss?!?!?! What else could it be????
No codes...... throughout this process I’ve gotten a rich o2 sensor code and a lean o2 sensor code. I have one of the code readers...
When did the problems start?
Are you getting a System Pass code of 11 or 111? When you say no codes, is that after replacing all the above parts and sensors?
If after replacing all those parts and sensors, check timing as stated, and if it's close to spec, I would pull the PCM and inspect. It may have lead you down a rabbit hole if its failing.
Problem started a couple months ago. I’ll pull codes again this weekend. Last time I checked I got the o2 rich code. As of right now no light. I’ll look at the pcm this Sunday. How do I remove it?
Could be the computer itself or could also be a wiring problem holding one or more injectors open.
Does the oil smell like gas?
What is the fuel pressure?
Does it hold fuel pressure after the engine is shut off?
