97 F350 diesel. I have my instrument cluster pulled for repair. I'm only getting 12.5v at the batteries. Is this a result of the instrument cluster being out of the truck?
The battery light in the dash is part of the exciter circuit, if I'm not mistaken. There was a thread years ago about the alternator not "turning on" if the bulb was burned out.
My 1996 EVTM shows a resistor in cluster at that battery symbol. It 'should' still charge with the bulb burned out...if not, replace it.
Also check that green wire into voltage regulator for 12V with key on engine on or off. Yellow should be constant hot and that white guy from regulator to stator is what excites it to turn out...like a good looking woman. Haha
