My 2017 F250 CCSB with standard springs came with 3 1/4" blocks. I installed 1 3/4" blocks for a 1 1/2" drop at the rear. The truck looks almost level now.
New block Before installing new blocks After installing new blocks
Springs are stock base springs for F250 without heavy duty towing package. They are original to the truck. Blocks are Ford Part #6C3Z-5598-A. I do not know what model or year they are stock on. They are not tapered.
The part # 6C3Z-5598-A was a popular swap on another thread I was reading, its from a 2016 F250. The challenge was some F350's that had that swap done experienced a slight vibration at higher speeds especially when towing. The consensus was that without the taper the pinion and rear end angle were causing a slight vibration. The 2" blocks made by PMF have a 2.5 degree taper built in that they say eliminates this issue but I am trying to find an oem 2 inch block that has a taper. Thanks for the info though!
I was worried about the lack of taper, but I have driven the truck up to 85mph with the new blocks installed and there was no hint of vibration. When I played around with the geometry of the rear end, it seems that the taller the block, the more taper you need due to the arc the axle travels through from stationary to full jounce using the front eye of the spring as the pivot point. That could be why I have no problem with a "square" shorter block. Things may be different on a truck with a center driveshaft hanger bearing as the rear section of the driveshaft change in arc with axle motion is different, but it seems to work fine on my CCSB F250.
That would make sense, I know the F350 vibration was not occuring in all cases, but depending on the wheelbase and driveshaft that could make the difference.
2019 F250 XLT w/FX4 package. I did a measurement in the garage of front and rear gaps and found front to be 1.5" low, which seemed off based on reading the forums of everyone else's gap. So, went to rear and measured the block, and it is only 2 inches... Most I have read on here are 3.5 inches. Since it is only 1.5 inch rake, and it does not look that bad, I have decided there is no need to level. I want some rake but it is not very noticeable. I will be putting in the rear wheel well liners, and putting on my 34" tires, so it will help some... Anyone else with a 19 notice this????
