Checked out the E-brake cable on my E99 F550 yesterday, 60" Cab2Axle. Surprised that the cable offers no adjustment, and it hangs slack a lot. @calvinhg wrenches all day and has seen some with, many without. I wonder why Furd chose to save a buck this way. A threaded end on the main cable couldn't have cost more than a dollar in bulk purchase. Oh well.
Guess we'll jury rig up a cable clamp at the T to remove the excessive slack. There must be some adjustment possible on the little drums too.
There is a process to release the tension on the cable so it can be removed on later models. This is done on the parking brake/E-brake mehanism in the cab. I would check the parking brake/E-brake mechanics in the cab to see if there is a problem with it.
Maybe someone has the procedure/photos they can share.

There is enough slack in there to just pull off the cables at the T back near the LR tire. Perhaps that tension release happened. I did look at the pedal mechanism and saw nothing in the way of adjustment. I'll look again but this time see if there's a tension release mechanism. Thanks.
Check the backing plates to see if the hold down pins have fallen inside the drum..
Pulling the toolbox bed off as soon as it passes state safety inspection. Then I'll have a chassis cab for a while, which will allow easy access to much.
Adding that to the list to check when it's just a frame back there.
