94 Ford E350 460 ci E40D transmission Drained transmission by removing pan and drained torque converter How do I replace fluid and procedure to fill converter Thanks
Your half way there. There is the Mark K method.
You will fill the trans & disconnect a line from trans.
By running the motor you will cycle the fluid thru.
Search for it. It's fun to do.
Now what fluid to use will be the tough question.
Bob
Use a MERCON V fluid. You don't need to do the flush since you emptied the pan and the torque converter.
Fill the trans through the dipstick tube. Put 10 quarts in then start the engine. This fills the torque converter. Only run the engine for 60 seconds. Use a watch, because the time is critical. Too much time will run the pump dry and cause damage. After 60 seconds shut the engine down. Add another 4 quarts, start the engine, and check the fluid level, You will probably need to add more to get it right, but with this much in the trans you can leave the engine running. Always check the level with the engine running and the trans in park.
