The IPR with the body on it is the one I removed from the truck. The other IPR is a genuine Ford IPR that my local diesel shop said was the correct one? Who is right and what can happen running the truck with the wrong IPR?
I talked to Clay and ordered the correct IPR. My local diesel shop is swearing that the one with the edge filter is the correct one and wont take it back. I gave Clay my VIN and he said I needed the IPR w/o the edge filter. That is the last time I will visit my local diesel shop. Thanks guys.

I ran into this issue last year. Going off VIN numbers I was sold the incorrect IPR. Fords VIN numbers are quite screwed up for our trucks according to ford mine was a F350. I told the dealership to come out and look at the axle its defiantly a Dana 50 TTB and they then told me our trucks only came with straight axles
Clay looked up the VIN also for me and said according to VIN they sold me the right IPR. I ended up ordering one through Clay but just by description of the part 96-97. Clay informed me that the earlier IPR will work but may cause extra cranking after the truck has sat to start it up, do to the older style allowing the oil to weep back into the HPOP.
It may not be the right IPR according to VIN and I would not write the Diesel Shop off due to this I had to fight tooth and nail to get a refund from Ford. My local dealership at the time stepped up to the plate when the dealership out of town(where I purchased it) told me to kick rocks as well with Ford customer care. Turned out I had a wire that had broken in the wiring harness leading up to the IPR causing my issue to begin with anyways.
Pretty sure 1994.5 and 1995s used the edge filter IPR...and the different HPOP.
This is correct. When I went to ford dealer all the older ipr' 94 -95 cross ref back to the newer ipr without the edge filter. I got the newer one and ran it for a couple of days till I got the edge filter from riff raff
