Sorry to start a new post but not sure who if anybody is reading my updates. I just finished the power steering “up grade” to the 78-79 4- bolt steering box. Looking for a couple pictures of the tires fully locked each way. Want to see where the pitman arm is at the end of the turns fully locked. This whole mod is so very tight. Thanks in advance!

Are you doing crossover steering or regular? have you already finished up your linkage or are you fabricating it?
either way I think youre overthinking it... just turn your steering wheel all the way to the left, back off a half turn, place the tires in the all the way left position, measure how long your linkage needs to be, install and turn all the way to the right to make sure it maxes things out that way.
Never mind, I just had a great idea to jack the truck up and turn the tires, lol. Someday I wonder how I ever make it home. Man is it close all the way around!
This is a mod that I can see going south in a hurry for some poor enthusiast. Everything is so close to not working that one mistake or calculation and you are in trouble. It is definitely doable as many have and many will, but WOW is it tight!
I used 1/2” for the inside. My thinking was to leave a lip to weld to. That worked great, ......but it also put my box farther inside the frame. Did not worry me at the time, but after completing the modification I was extremely lucky! Like I said everything is sooooo tight. I barely clear the full lock against the springs. I do clear everywhere so it will be fine. I just feel like this is a nightmare waiting for somebody as I was almost that somebody. I also feel like my skill set is fairly high on a project like this. I know some have been unfortunate to have to trim the radiator support because of the tight fit. I will clear that also but again just barely. I can’t say it enough how close everything is for it to work perfect on all three things. Just measure a million times cut once, tack it all and double check it all then weld solid. I forgot about the turning of the pitman arm toward the front. Never heard anybody talk about that spot hitting. I moved mine in a little and that could have been a huge deal breaker. I got pretty lucky on that. Like I said I am so glad to be done!
Only that close at full lock to the right. Most of the time it is this way. I guess as long as it misses by an 1/8” it is as good as 1”. Clearing is clearing.
Which box did you use? Doesn’t look like you cut into the crossmember or it could be the camera angle. Defiantly looks like the box sits lower on the frame than my ended up. The box really sets the height according to where it sits on the top of the frame.

March's is not a swap. His is a '78 frame and steering box.
Even though they are the same width between the rails, the overall shape and crossmember locations are likely very different.
Oh, I see said the blind man. Wish I could take mine out for a spin and feel the difference in turning! That will have to wait; cab off of frame is next!
