Hpop properly seated?

Hey guys just bought me an 03 E350 7.3 van, couple of problems with it have been a leaking Hpop, and fuel bowl possibly, Anyways I resealed them both and am in the process of putting her back together, I did replace the plastic checkball and upgraded retaining thing, with the longer threads. Note this is the first time I work on a diesel so its a new adventure for me, I also resealed the plenums while at it, and got the upgraded high pressure oil lines, with the crossover, which I have yet to install. I also found the impellers chipped in the turbo cold side, "pardon if I get it wrong" so I decided to buy a rebuilt unit. I will admit working on a van is painful, the dog house is a bonus but god is it tight in there. Anyways thats out my chest, the thing that has me paranoid is if I got the gear seating properly on the Hpop shaft. To me it feels right when I rock the pump the gear moves with it, its not totally flush but from what I can see its in, and the only part that isnt in is the bevel, so I assume its bottomed out and thats how its supposed to look, any input I would appreciate it! Sorry for the wiki :P

Welcome to FTE!

Never had an HPOP apart myself but someone more knowledgeable than me will be along.

That said, the flopping around looks entirely wrong to me.

Thanks! Yeah it flops because its not fully bolted to the rear yet, pretty much rocking it side to side to get the gear on it. I bolted and torqued the rear bolts to 18 ftlbs and front to 96ftlbs and everything is solid, am just paranoid if the chamfered edge is normal, or if the pump has to fill that area flush if that makes sense. I guess I've read too many no start due to not properly aligned pumps. I have only driven this beauty once and I'm hooked on the 7.3 so I taken it upon my self to get her in perfect mechanical condition. I just finished doing the passenger side harness and gasket. I had a bad reading in two injectors but the new harness brought all of them back to 2.7 ohms. and i used to get 17.18 and no reading in one, needless to say the old harness was brittle and had a half connected plug.

Another update, when you do these, for the love of god replace the fuel line that goes to the driver side head, i just put everything back together and i was so exited to attempt to start her up, just to find a disgusting rubbed fuel line, what else could go wrong? back apart she comes sometime this week. F me guys, Fme, i had no clue this was faulty, as i bought the van used and it was an oily mess, and i have never seen diesel mixed with fuel, but believe me, now I know!

On the super duty there's a clamp on the passenger side that does that. I glanced at my Excursion a long time ago and it appeared to not have that line like the SD, guess I should check the driver's side and see. Being on the left vs. right side might be a year model thing, or a SD/van/Excursion thing.
