I haven’t gotten much done on the truck this year, I replaced some metal on the inside back of the bed. I’m tearing down the old cabin that was built about 1955. The boards looked pretty good, so I’m trying to take them off carefully. I’m going to use the wood for the bed. Some of the boards are 12’ long and some are 16’ long. Dennis
The original cabin was heated with coal. My wife’s dad passed away in March of this year. So besides tearing down the old cabin, we need to go through and distribute or sell his stuff. We brought the old parlor stove home yesterday and put it in the sunroom. I’ll bet it’s been 60 years since there was a fire in it.
That is a nice looking stove. Will you put a stove pipe out and use it to make that a 4 season room?
We don’t really need it for heat, there’s radiant heat in the floor hooked up to the coal fired boiler. It would be nice to burn it during the shoulder months though.
I realize white pine isn’t a good choice, but I’d like to use the boards from the cabin. I was thinking I’d rip the 1x8’s into 1x6’s to make them a little stronger. Hopefully I’ll have extra boards for replacement.

I do a little woodwork and white pine looks very cool once it's been distressed, either for real or for looks. Think about just oiling it then using the truck for a while before applying a finish. I've soaked it in dirty water, hit with chains and scrap metal then oiled, then stained, poly, whatever. I mean, white pine isn't going to hold up like Souther Yellow or hardwoods but if it's not going to see heavy use later, you sure can make it look good.
I was working on the cabin again the past weekend. In between visits from the bears, I got some work done. We had 3 different bears visit us. I found a surprise under the plate at the front wall. This is the 3 legged bear, he’s missing his right forearm.
Yes, we are careful, although two days ago I didn’t look before my fox terrier and I went out. She chased the bear away. I was hollaring her, but she didn’t listen. I could hardly talk that night.
