I recently “inherited” my wife’s grandfathers 1981 F-100. Not sure where to start but it has been in garage since it last ran about 15 years ago. I want to get it back in running condition and want some pointers on how to get it rolling again. Nothing was wrong with it, just got parked and never driven. I have NO experience in vehicles but somewhat handy and not afraid to jump in and try. Look forward to being a Ford truck owner for the first time.

New tires (even if they look ok), change all fluids and filters, drain the gas and put new gas in, grease whatever you can grease, new battery, check the engine belts, hang a scented pine tree on the mirror, and start ‘er up.........

Should probably also change the spark plugs and make sure the brakes/pads are working ok.

Definitely pick up a service manual for it.
. . . and yes what seville009 said as far as fluids/etc.
And replace the fuel pump and battery.
Also, go ask these questions over in "1980 - 1986 Bullnose F100, F150 & Larger F-Series Trucks" and see what those guys say.
