08 6.4L with the P2291 engine code. Engine stopped while driving

Hello. I recently acquired an 08 6.4L with 105K miles. I need this as a reliable work truck. I drove about 500 miles and decided to do a bunch of bulletproofing so 500 miles ago I had the cab off, replaced both turbos, pushrods, rocker arms, injectors #1 and #2 (report from previous owner at dealer showed they were suspect), all injector lines, glow plugs, changed both fuel filters, oil and filters, thermostat. I pulled off lift fuel pump and to inspect and clean (changed gaskets and front cover with drain valve) and removed the EGR and DPF. I tried using an HP tuner to delete the EGR DPF but couldn’t get the engine codes to go away and it didn’t run quite right. I got a MiniMaxx from a tuner guy in Canada (Doekter Tuned) who will “rent” you one so you can load the program onto your truck. I loaded the HD300 – stock program and truck seemed to run very well for 100 miles. Then I unhooked the battery to do a little welding on the utility bed. When I started it it started doing this thing, like it did with the HP tuner where it would increase RPM on it’s own and the only way to bring it down was to shut the engine off or have it in gear with your foot on the brake.

My buddy said “didn’t the tuner guy say to have it in the performance mode” So as I’m driving home I changed the programmer from stock to performance. I drove a couple miles further and decided to step on it, so I did and man it accelerated from 60 to 85 in about 2 seconds!!!! I looked at the gauges and the RPM was appx 3000 and the turbo boost gauge was on 4 so I let my foot off and the engine died. (this was all in the span of the 2 seconds) On the side of the road it just cranks and cranks at restart. At midnight I had to have the truck towed back to the shop. I’m getting the P2291 engine code. I have zero, literally zero, fuel coming out of the Schrader valve at the fuel cooler. When in turn the key to run the low fuel pump makes different sounds, maybe air in there, I hear gurgling in the tank but it always has done that. I had just put in 15 gallons of fuel so it’s well over half a tank. I drained a little fuel at the low pump/fuel conditioning module and it was fine and yes it was diesel, not gasoline (I checked!!!) I looked up the code and read as much as I could but just wondering if this sparks anything with anyone. This has to be related to my little 2 second power show. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

P2291 is an oil pressure problem. The ICP sensor could be bad, or a host of other things, including electrical solenoid problems, low oil level, or low oil pressure.
