Tool box for UNDER a Tonneau cover

Looking for recommendations for toolboxes under a tonneau. I have a Lomax trifold, and want a 30"-40" chest style box to put up against the cab.

Does anyone have any boxes they like more than others?

Thanks in advance!

Here is a pic of my Weather Guard under the rail box. Part No. 674-52-01
Note that the box is right justified leaving room for a dirt bike front tire in the left front corner.
This is a short bed, with bike in place the tailgate will close.
This is my second Weather Guard spanning many years and I have been very happy with build quality and durability.

I have a CC LB and use a custom fuel tank that holds about 38 gallons and a custom toolbox that fits under the tonneau as well. I have some assembly pictures. Picked up the fuel tank used, had the toolbox built custom to fit in the 2005 SD. Still need to fit up my fuel pump to the main fuel tank but it’s all ready to be hooked up.

I have the largest Weather guard that would fit ahead of the wheel wells and full width with a roll up cover. Great box. Also check RK boxes. Both High quality.

The Weather Guard looks really nice. I like the idea of leaving a space for the dirt bike front tire and being able to close the tailgate. I'll have to check out that box. Nice to see another KTM guy on here BTW!

would love to see a photo of how it sits in your rig. I've thought about going the route of TItan or S&B for additional fuel, but always great to see how others do it.

I got it at Walmart online for $250 with free shipping. I think this is the unit: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Better-Bu...ll&athena=true Looks like the price has gone up. The main complaint was thin metal that dents easy, and some of the units were delivered with small dents. I had 2 in mine, but they were not in obvious places, plus I beat them out a bit. So far it has been a great tool box. I especially like that pulling the drivers side latch also unlatches the opposite side.

Tractor Supply also carries the unit, so you may be able to find 1 in store without shipping dents: https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/pr...t?cm_vc=-10005

Unfortunately, the Ford Super Duty truck beds have a taper in the sidewall that extends to the bed in front leaving only 58" between the side walls. I over came that problem, and posted on a previous thread here:

Better Built also has some 48" and 56" boxes that may work better, but those puppies are expensive.

I have the BAK Revolver2 with TracRac ladder rack system and a box underneath that's a bit smaller than the chest style. When the Revolver is rolled all the way forward, the roll will not allow the lid of a chest to open, thus I used one like the link below. It's nothing more than a bed-rail top-mount box and I simply turned it 90° to sit on its back panel ... lid on top. Added handles to the ends for whne I need to move it, and secured it with just a couple turnbuckles.

Even after installing the 2x4s on the bottom so the tool box will fit between the tapered sidewall, the tool box is still about 1/4” below the bed rails.

I saw a black model somewhere, but can’t find it right now.

I need to get you an overall shot. It’s set up so I can still use the fifth wheel prep and goose prep when I upgrade the trailer. But this is a long box so I have lots of room. The measurements are pretty accurate, I’m still toying with whether I plumb the pump and filter inside the tool box or outside. Didn’t exactly leave myself a lot of room for changing the filter water separator. If your running a short box, I would do the under tool boat fuel tank and tool box, and just get a shorter soft tonneau cover. This will give you a larger auxiliary fuel tank. With my long box, I already have a 48 gallon main tank, plus this auxiliary 38 gallons. I have run out of fuel several times on long haul pulls coming out of the bush and it ain’t fun to run out.
