I just got the senders themselves instead of the whole Assembly, I got my replacement shower heads from a Marine supply I posted them before the Stainless steel ones.... mine is a 93 ... maybe next year I will drop the tanks to replace them ... I found the senders on FleaBay for like 20 bux each. I still need to order new 'O' Rings but no problem finding them.
At one point I think the senders for the 83 - 86 f250 Diesels were NLA.
Be good to have a few on the shelf for just in case.

That's kind of what I was thinking, a few years ago they were NLA and I didn't notice it until after I ordered the showerhead that oem ones can be had for the same $30 price tag.
I was just happy to have a fuel gauge again, the sender itself was old but fine. Be nice if someone could find just the boards and offer those by themselves.
My front sender quite a couple years ago, the brass float developed a hole and sank.
Just as well I replaced both as the tops were pretty rusted. The front tank ring was so
rusty it was almost one with the tank. Had to slightly bend the 4 tabs to get the ring
off with a brass drift and Kano-Kroil. Then blew off the rusty dirt before lifting out the
Sender.
I read a thread where the guy removed the rivets or screws that holds the board to the
Sender. Oval`d the holes a bit and moved the board over 1/16". now the part that rides
up and down is on new metal and it works perfect. Something to try maybe.
I reused my old brass float as the plastic one that comes with em look cheap.
If you ever get a hole in it some plumbing solder will fix you right up
Edit: also the oring that comes with the new sender is thicker than oem, I couldn't make it work with the tank still in the truck. You might have better luck if you pull the tank or bed. I reused my old one only because it wasn't a year or two old. Do not reuse one if it's actually old. You can get the sender lock ring oring kit on the help isle at an auto parts store for around $7
Question: 1984 f250 6.9 idi, front tank. There are several types of units...some with a pump, some without...some for 16 gallon tank, some for a 19 gallon tank. Is there a way to determine just which unit to order without having to take everything apart first? Would like to be able to order the correct unit, and install it in one operation instead of taking it all apart and having to wait for parts to show up... Thx for the replies!
The IDI Diesels don`t have an in tank fuel pump.
The fuel pump or Feed Pump is on the lower right side of the engine.
You need to know what the OHM reading is for the Sending Units Ford used in the 84 model year.
Looking at the links I posted above, 83 and 84 are not listed.
Here is the OHM reading for 85 - 86, • Ohm range: Full 8.5-10.5, Empty 63-85
My 86 long bed has the 19 gallon tank for the front. Don`t know if the short bed is 16 or not.
The stock rear tank is also a 19 gallon tank.
I notice trex changed their site a bit, will have to click on a couple things to get to the senders.
Ok...thx for the replies!!! I believe I've got it together...will order soon as I get under the truck and measure the front tank to verify it is a 19 gallon...
Between the 2 sites sited earlier in the conversations, one site was out of stock for an 87 sending unit and the site showed no listing for an 87. Any other options out there? Rockauto has some but they offer 4 types and its not clear which is an exact fit.
Dont be shocked if Rock is out of stock too. I ordered from them and order was canceled. Likewise an ebay purchase. I am trying to find the thread I found before about repairing the rheostat for my 89 front mid 19 gal tank.
