Also make sure they are bleeding the RABS (Driver's side frame rail near the back end of the motor)... Forgot about that... A professional shop should know but.... Just saying.. Just in case since no ones said....
Exactly... especially if you have changed lines. It's part of the Bleeding sequence.
Pumping and firmness would lead to either new brake components needed or possibly just an adjustment on the shoes to get them closer to the drum surfaces. I believe there is a "star nut" or called something like that for this - accessible from the back side of the drum.
There's a bit more to it than that. With self adjusters, you can only turn the star wheel one direction, can't remember if that expands or retracts the shoes. To go the other direction you have to use an ice pick or tiny screwdriver through the adjusting hole and move the self-adjusting lever AWAY from the star wheel which allows the wheel to be turned with the brake tool at the same time. Point is, you can only rotate the star wheel in one direction without depressing the adjusting lever. You then turn the star wheel until the brakes lock up the drum, this centers the shoes on the backing plate, THEN back off the star wheel until you have a slight drag. Otherwise the slight drag means nothing and you still may have a low pedal. Not a Ford diesel, but if this pic works, it's a basic illustration: https://www.autozone.com/repairguide...96b43f8037722a
You fellas are the reason that this is the absolute best Ford site , period. I sincerely appreciate all the comments and suggestions.
I spoke with the mechanic today and we discussed all your ideas. He also doesn't understand the wheel seal ideal, but I view mechanics and medicine the same way. Nothing is written in stone and anything is possible, especially if I'm involved.
Happy New year y'all
Gentlemen,
I picked up my truck today and the wheel seals were leaking air internally. Big surprise for my mechanic & myself.
Thank you so much for your help with this matter.

Like I said it's funny how they'll leak air but not fluid when you pump them up.
