240 Vacuum Advance ????????

I am looking for new Adjustable Vacuum Advance unit for a spare Autolite 12127 P&C distributor that is from a 1974 E100 Econoline Van that was in the state of KS. Pictures show some detailed measurements of the 240 3.9L unit & the 300 4.9L unit. They are not the same. Anyone know where I can get a new one for the 240 unit?

Well the old 240 unit that has the wider mount (.480") came out of 1974 Ford E100 Econoline van that had a 240 3.9L inline 6. The distributor is an Autolite 12127 points & condenser unit. I have installed the oil pump shaft to the bottom of the distributor and dropped the unit in a 300 block to make sure it fit both the oil pump & block. The vacuum advance is adjustable 7 turns full open to full close with a 1/8" allen. The van was in KS. I want to replace the old adjustable vacuum advance with a new adjustable one when I convert the P&C system to a Pertronix Ignitor 1 setup.

The two pictures show the difference between a new 1971 300 4.9L unit and the old 1974 adjustable advance mounts & shaft. Measurements may be + or - .001-.002", just trying to show the difference. Anyone know where I can find a new unit for this 12127 distributor?

Even though the distributor was taken out of a 1974 E100 van it might not be the original that came with the OEM 240 3.9L that was in it. Might have been from any 240 motor say from 1965-74 or whenever they built the first 240 3.9L.

Rock Auto lists only 1 for a 1974 with a 3.9 engine. It s a duel port vacuum advance though.
An ebay listing also shows the duel port to fit your van

Perhaps it is not the original distributor, or engine?

Only numbers I can read are cast numbers 12127, below it is 6AB, end of 12127 is A11. I can not make out the stamped number to the left of the 12127. I do not have the E100 Econoline van, only the distributor. The motor 240 3.9L inline 6 is the original motor as per the original owner, he was not sure about the distributor.

I am just guessing but there should be a D*UF- or D*TZ- or D*AF- in front of the 12127. The * being a number of 0-3
The number should look something like D3UF-12127-A11 and would be the engineering number.

That stamping is a DIST ASSEMBLY ID NO. Using it directs one to the exact parts list in the MPC.

Without it, most everything is a wild guess.

Just FYI, 12127 is the number found on all Ford distributors.

Is there a number or any markings stamped on the vacuum advance itself?

annaleigh -- can not make out any real numbers or letters before 12127, looks like the ending letter might be an F but not sure, does not look like a D to start. There is no number on the vacuum advance (only a red dot). Will try to post pictures Thur PM.

A re-builder will usually remove the STAMPING ID NO as the DIST will lose its original calibration.

Still looking for information & type distributor on this E100 Econoline 240 3.9L.
The original vacuum advance has a thicker mounting pad on the distributor side as shown on post # 1 & 2 in this thread.
Couple of distributor pictures are as follows
