I have put in hundreds if not more sensors in my job as an Expeditor installer (Installed products at new car dealers), I also design and build new vehicle products now.
Aftermarket sensors can be great, but the type of sensor is very important. The under-bumper sensors are difficult to mount and get the correct angle on. Think about the sensor spraying water like a garden hose. The wave comes out in a cone, if it is aimed too low it will give you ground reflections and if aimed too high you will miss items.
I used a 5-gallon bucket as a test fixture behind a vehicle. It is actually very difficult to pick up because of the shape, but that is what you want.
As for those bumper mount sensors, that type is designed for a plastic bumper cover, not a metal bumper. When you drill a metal bumper and insert a sensor it has to be snug but not too tight. The metal will expand and contract based on the temperature outside and when the sensor is squeezed it will make it false. Sensors for a metal truck bumper are made with a rubber sleeve or what we call a floating sensor. It is mounted in a silicone center (just like OEM) and the floating sensor is not affected by the metal expansion.
Now you want to look at the cables these sensors come with and especially the connectors used. click for their cable
So this is going under your truck and will be there for years. They call this "heavy-duty" there is nothing heavy about these. This will be a failure point.
If you wanted to put these sensors on a passenger vehicle where you ran these directly into the trunk and the majority of them were hidden behind the bumper cover then it would be fine. But you're not doing that.
I would recommend that you look at a Rostra BZTRUCK or Advent PSD-100 set of sensors. Just look at the difference in how they are made, then you will also find that these are both designed for Metal bumper installation, have screw-lock watertight connectors, longer range, can be mounted higher off the ground and still be accurate and different technology. Both of these brands are digital sensors, this means they adapter better to different installations. The PSD-100 even has a programming mode that will learn if you have a trailer hitch receiver in and won't false on it.
You will pay more for both of these but in the long run, you will be happier. There are tons of products out there and this is just my opinion.
I hope this helps. Merry Christmas
