...never have to worry about the sun causing the dash to crack, when it's painted. My 66 had the padded dash originally, but I think the painted finish looks cleaner....
Thanks, mulegal! No, I'm not THAT talented. I had the kick panels, door panels and headliner done in Paso Robles. The recessed fresh air vents in the kicks was a nice detail, I thought.
I believe it was just dashes but if it's 500 bucks mines coming off and getting paint
That’s part of the reason I went to the paint scheme. After having a hard time finding one and the expense I started looking at as many photos as I could of 100/250 dashes...I started seeing a lot of painted ones and thought well heck the look better and I could use my $500 elsewhere on the truck.
We wrestled with this on our 65 Ranger restoration. Our conclusion was we liked the metal look better and a padded dash could be added later if we wanted to.
The painted black above looks good and gets me to thinking. Might have to show the wife.
The other thing I'm waffling on is the speaker grille and vent louvers. Do we keep them original black or paint them the Prairie Bronze which the dash/truck will be.
I painted the louvers a mat black just to offset them a bit from the gloss black dash
Were they matte black originally? Ours currently look matte but I assumed that was because of being 50+ years old.
Nice looking truck by the way Vandy
65 tbirds dash looks great also. Like the contrast between the body color and black of the grill/louvres.

Oilboy, thanks! Originally the dash was painted an off white and Navajo Beige (T). When I decided on staying with two tone, my buddy who did the paint work thought the mat black would look good. So I went with it!
