i have a 1986 fullsize bronco with a swapped engine in it.i have the numbers off it and want to get a positive indentification on it.it has already been bored out 0.060" over and has a turned down crank in it. the stroke in it is 3" and bore is 4" originally.
i'm lead to belive it is a 302, fuel injection.all i'm sure of it is a v-8. any help running the numbers or pointing me to a site to run them would be helpful. thanks
the two numbers on the block. 8a255852 and d9ye-6015-a34
That's a weird casting number. d9ye should be 1979 something, but I can't find a match. the 6015 denotes engine, but I can't find it. Wierd. If it's actually been bored .060 over, I'd get a new block and start from scratch.
If you're trying to tell if it's a 351w or a 302, measure from near the bottom of the block on the outside (where the angle is just above where the oil pan mounts) to the bottom of the head. The 351w (8 point something i think) is longer than the 302 (six and change i think). This is the deck height and the only major external difference as far as i know. I believe a haynes manual will have the deck heights listed, so i'd check that before trusting my foggy memory. Good luck
i want to thank all of y'all. it's a 302. 1979 built jan 3 rd. i found a website that tells what all the codes mean. bigbaddorsey was right just go to google and type in the words and spend a lil time sifting thruogh the results. i'll be posting a pic or two of the build up when i'm done if anyones interested. once again thanks guys
