I need to tap into a fuse that only comes on when the truck is on. I prefer to use the fuse box in the engine bay. The fuse tap is what will power my and off my switch panel. Even though all lights are off, the panel is still powered with lights and I dont want to have a dead battery if I forget to manually turn it off.
Based on this list, which would be the best one to use?
You should have an ignition on +12V customer access wire behind the fuse box on the drivers side (assuming 17-19) right in the wire bundle where the upfitter switch wires are or would be. I forget what color it is but it's labeled.

I do have 2019. Ive never heard of a customer access wire. The only fuse box I saw was on passenger side, engine compartment. Thats where I tapped into.
I ended up tapping in fuse 34. Its rated at 10 amps. I dont have a front camera or blind spot. I just have a rear camera, so drawing an extra 1/2 watt to trigger the switch panel shouldn't have any effect... I hope lol..

I misspoke. It's not a fuse box on the driver side but a relay box. In any case it is my understanding that there is a bundle of wires in the corner of the fender/firewall with an ignition on 12v+. My truck (which has upfitters) has this wire and I've seen it on other non-upfitter switch trucks too. You're correct that a fuse tap for such a low draw should be totally fine.
Thats good to know for future reference. I dont have up fitters, so Im not sure if this wire bundle will be there or not. Ill try and look tomorrow to see if I can find them.
I put a fuse tap on #35 (extended power restraints module) on the fuse panel behind the passenger kick panel. There's a bit of extra room off that fuse plug and the exit out the back of the panel is right there. And it's only hot when the ignition is on.
