Did the '50 F-1 have 2 tail lights or one and did they come out with turn signals or just use arm signals, which I found out they don't even teach in driving school anymore.

It depends. Some states required two tail lights, most only required one back then on trucks. The right rear lamp would have been optional in states where it was not required. Turn signals were optional and typically installed as a kit by the dealer, with a clamp-on switch on the column, and a separate, bolt on lamp on each corner. If one didn't opt for the turn signal option, then they would have been stuck to use hand signals.
Thank you for preserving my sanity, ( if I did indeed ever have any), I thought it came out with just one and no signals but needed verification. I have been through it with law enforcement when I had my 5 window business coupe. They stopped me on several occasions and one actually cited me and would have had to go to court over it but it came to light that the judge was an antique car nut and dismissed the ticket. He made the statement that it came out of the factory with one tail light so I was justified in keeping it original.

Good for you!
I had a small University policeman (we used to call them rent a cops) give me a warning for having a headlight out on my 54 just after I got it back from the body shop. The headlight wasn't even wired up. I gave him a hard time about it. Then he said "I could cite you for having an obstructed license plate!" I said, " This is a stock truck, with the stock rear bumper in the stock location with a stock license plate holder in the stock location. If you have a problem with that call the Ford Motor Company!"
Abe, if you want to be a "wise guy" like that, it would be helpful having printed up copies of the relevant portions of your state vehicle code, keeping a few in the glovebox for souvenirs. Memorize parts of them. Then when they say (with some justification after all) "WTF do you think you're doing!?" You can say "Yes, Officer, Pursuant to the Penn. Code, section 3.1416, para. Z, rev. X.2A 2C as amended specifically states that motor vehicles manufactured on or before July 30th 1957 are not required to have blah blah blah. Would you like a copy? Here."
Because you're gonna have to 'splain stuff to people who are younger than some of your T shirts, they don't know the obscure laws as well as they might, they would just as soon make you feel some pain, remember, the process is the punishment. They will try to make you jump through hoops, go to court and prove your innocence even if you get the ticket thrown out eventually it's going to be a hassle.

Yes, they really get peed off when you prove them wrong and stand your ground. Now don't get me wrong, I have the highest respect for law enforcement but like any other profession they have their bad apples. I call them Barney Fifes,( showing my age, LOL) they have a badge and a gun therefore they are somebody.
Through an unlikely series of events several years ago, I had to re-take the driving portion to renew my driver license. I took my '64 to the DMV. The '50 would be perfect for this purpose.
The rather officious looking uniformed gal complete with clipboard started with a Vehicle Inspection, proceeded to stand about 25 yards away. "Turn your 4 Way Hazard Warning lights on".
I leaned out the window. "There aren't any" I helpfully explained. It got better. When she got in the passenger side she made this big exaggerated production of trying to hook her arm through the shoulder lap belt, which weren't even a gleam in an engineers eye in 1964. "Where are the seat belts!?" "There aren't any."
"We can't do this"
"Can't do what?"
"We can't take a driving test without seat belts." Etc.
After some discussion I got her to agree to perform the driving test, and she would check the laws when we got back, and see if it is permitted or whatever and issue a license, assuming I passed, which naturally I did.
Government officials at their best, (OXYMORON???)
To give you an example of the generation gap that has evolved, I went to the parts store with a used clutch plate in my hand and the lady behind the desk asked me, " that is a rotor isn't it?"

Hilarious! I really did LOL! How did you know I have T-shirts from the mid 70's!

I too respect all LEO! But this young guy was a college cop. A few years ago they carried flashlights, a key ring and jiggled door ***** like Barney Fife! Now they have guns, a VASCAR for catching speeders, and arrest powers!

Don't forget, Both Andy and Barney had sidechicks from Mt. Pilot, aka "The Fun Gals" IYKWIMAITTYD, Skippy and Daphne. One of them had a voice that only a 3 pack a day habit of Chesterfields ("Best For You!") can produce.
