My wifes 2008 Explorer with 4.0 V6 is really getting under my skin. I just put a 6th wheel hub on it (all different brands) and now the water pump is leaking.....again. Here is the backstory on the cooling system with this Exploder. We bought this used about 8 years ago. I had to replace the radiator one year after owning it. Then I had to replace the T Stat housing because it was leaking. I also replaced the hoses when I did the radiator. Then a year goes by and the top rad hose blows off the radiator. Never had that happen...ever. But wait there is more. Three years ago I had to replace the water pump and had to replace the T Stat Housing again. Fast forward, two top radiator hoses blown off again (last time I double clamped it) and I had to replace the T Stat housing again this past summer. Now the water pump is leaking again.
There are no signs of head gasket problems. I also replaced the rad cap 2 times now. I would like to find a lower pressure one, but can not.
I have never had this many things go wrong on a vehicle that I take care of. If we could afford it, I would dump this and get a newer one. We had a 2001 Sport Trac with 4.0 V6 an that thing was great. No problems with it at all and we put almost 200,000 miles on it before trading it in on this POS.
