Ford c6 slipping
My C6 trans with a 390 in front started to shudder when creeping from a dead stop after hard driving (especially in Reverse) So after reading online on various threads and forums I decided to drain out some trans fluid and add a bottle of Lucas Transmission fix. (with warm engine and idling).
On my test drive it shifted great and was slipping way less, it hooked up perfect at the right rpm. I thought I'd made it.
But when the truck warmed up fully it started slipping a bit.
fast forward to today, I take her out to drive it some more to see if the lucas oil still has some effect. The shudder is mostly gone but its slipping a lot now in all gears. (Can't tell you exact amount of rpm don't have a tach) Its very noticable.
So after my 30 min drive I checked the fluid level. (Yes engine was running, trans warmed up and in park) The dipstick read way above the mark. I'll include a picture.
My questions are:
- Will overfilling the transmission cause slipping? There is no visable foaming on the dipstick.
- Fluid looks dirty. Should I change it with a new filter and add another bottle of the Lucas stop slip?
- I noticed that my exhaust is touching the transmission. Should I get this fixed? I am also considering installing an aux. trans cooler. It now only has 2 lines running to an aluminum radiator.
Thank you a lot for reading and potentially answering my questions!
Dipstick reading.
