Determine exactly what the failure was..."blow'd up" can mean several things.
Depending on the cause of the "blow'd up", there are several approaches that can be taken to approach Ford. 57000 maintained (according to the post) miles does not a sploshen make.
This is the first I've heard of it too.
If this is the case you might want to consider the idea of getting a used motor out of a wreck and do the work yourself. $7000 can get you a good motor and all the tools you need and the beer to bribe your buddies over to help. And after the work is done you still have plenty left to buy the steak down at the steakhouse.
My v-10 slung 2 rods at 77000 miles went and got a used motor luckly i just got the truck so i did not have to pay for it and when they open up the old motor the former owner did not take care of it at all you could tell it was abused.
actually my friends v-10 let go a couple of weeks ago in his motor 8,000 miles and it kicked a rod . its at a dealer in the midwest somewhere getting a complete motor..now hes got to drive from new hampshire half way across the country to get the damn thing
