Rear end

Any advice on a fire 9” rear end. I’m going to be doing 4 link suspension and I’m gonna want to do wilwood brakes. Am I better off buying a built rear end or looking for one at a salvage yard. And if so what’s the best options. Thanks

How much HP are you going to have? I found most 9"s at boneyards needed a complete rebuild anyway, if you are going to stress it you may as well get one that's built to take it.

I've been looking around for something similar (sans 4 link).
I'm not an expert and still shopping but I found Speedway and Quickperformance to be the least expensive.

Another option I found: http://ruttersrodshop.com/i-23444458-1953-1956-ford-truck-bolt-in-9-inch.html

If you are not dead set on a 9 inch, the explorer 8.8 is a cheaper route. I have one behind my 429, and have not had any issues. 4.10, limited slip, disk brakes, and all for under 300 from the junkyard.

I started out with an 8.8 from an explorer, but there are just no options for brakes. im looking to do wildwood complete setup. so im kind of backed into a corner with the 9"

What width are you going for?
Is there a consensus on "ideal" track width (or axle flange to axle flange) for rear ends with 2.5" brake offset and with "normal" tire width considerations?

Hey Kevin,
We are running a 400HP 351W with an Explorer 8.8 limited slip diff, 3.73 gears, disc brakes.
We don't race but we've got 30K miles on the truck. Doesn't Wildwood make brakes for this set up?
Show us some pics of your truck so we can see what you are working with.

Wildwood is pretty pricey - I was wondering what you are building over there.
