What is the problem? I run Unilites in a couple of my hot rods with no issue.
I would NOT put one of those stupid GM HEI distributors in one of my vehicles.
I seem to have a issue with ignition. Its an older Uniilite. New wires, plugs, coil. I can get it to start, idle and rev but it has a miss, once I put in gear it will die. Its getting fuel because the plugs are fouling.
Does the miss sound like just one cylinder? You don't mention new cap. Could be cracked or other issue and causing internal misfire.
Have you checked timing yet?
Put the timing light on each cylinder and watch for no light or misfire when you rev it and that would at least narrow down it if it one cylinder. Not saying it can't be electronics, but need to test all output first.

please elaborate on using a timing light to find a miss. I am assuming the light will not light up if it has no spark on that wire?
Correct. Or will light up, but while watching you will see it act intermittent or otherwise out of synch with what is expected.
You can see a lot of interesting things when you clamp the timing light pickup to each wire. Even just a fouled plug will show up (at least some of the time) as inconsistent flashes with a timing light.
And obviously if one is completely dead, you have a good starting point for the hunt.
Yat, If after you have done all the checks there is one other thing to look at.
Remove the valve covers and turn the engine slowly by hand while watching each rocker arm, they should all move the same amount. If you see one not moving as much then you have a worn out cam lobe due to not enough cam lube on the lobes when installing the new cam.
