I bought a new 2019 f250 6.7 crew cab late Sept. I have been using the remote start and it has really bad range. Now it is winter (NY) and i have to get like 10 feet before it works. I changed the batteries in both remotes with new lithium ones. No change. Went to the dealer yesterday and was told "yes we get a lot of complaints about that and 10-15 feet is the range) So i paid 250.00 (on sticker) for a remote start that i have to be right in front of the vehicle to use. Seems like a ripoff and bad advertising to me. So i also see in the Ford accessories the links above for the long range antenna. Anyone have this? and does it make a difference? I am also looking for the install notes but cant find any? any info would be great Jeff M.
When a dealer says something silky like your remote start range is 15 feet, I hear that they don't know how to fix something and don't want to bother figuring it out. Surely Ford wouldn't design a remote start with a range that short.
My 2017 remote start range isn't as long as I'd like; I'd say it's around 150' or so. An extension kit that mounts the antenna higher, but not right up against metal males sense to me. My 2009 had it mounted on the windshield behind the mirror. My 2017 has a lane departure camera camera in that spot.
First of all, my key fob remote start works great. At least 50 yards range, likely more.
2nd, the Ford Pass remote start will work from anywhere on the planet where there is cell signall.
That seems like enough range as far as I am concerned.
I don'It have the ford pass connect modem. I checked my sticker. So i assume i only have the fob remote start. The ford pass app on my phone does not show lock/unlock or remote start. I see another recall something about carpet insulation so i may tell them to install the long range antenna this way its on them. thanks Jeff
I don't know what the straight line range is but with my truck parked in the driveway, I can easily start it from inside the house. I know I've started it from quite a long distance in a parking lot. I'm impressed with the range of the remote for all commands.
yeah, I think you have a dealer that is being lazy. My remote start works a clear line of sight 50-75 yards. I can easily start my truck from inside the house (probably 30 yards through 2-3 walls). I would find a different dealer to take your rig to.

My RS via the factory key fob works from very long distance, through glass walls, etc. without issue.
FWIW, I park in a an elevated garage approx a good 75+ yards from the entrance to the building I work in and from my 2nd floor office I can RS the truck when leaving work, walk the distance out it it and it's there just purring away, pre-warmed up and ready to go. My truck is a '19 F250 FX4 CCSB 6.7L.

same here.....start my 2011 plow truck from inside my house - maybe 80 feet away. No issues.
